Tata Motors has finally launched the Tata Curvv with petrol and diesel engines in India. The much-awaited SUV has been priced at ₹ 9.99 lakh for the base petrol variant and ₹ 11.49 lakh for the base diesel variant. These introductory prices will be increased from November 2024.
The Tata Curvv ICE joins its electric sibling, the Curvv EV, which was launched a month ago. The Curvv ICE will be offered in eight variants and six color options, powered by three different engines and paired with multiple gearbox options.
Design and Exterior
The Tata Curvv ICE retains the sleek and coupe-like design language of its electric counterpart. The front grille and air vents are slightly different to distinguish it from the EV version. However, the overall silhouette, including the sloping roofline and sporty stance, remains unchanged. This makes the Curvv ICE one of the few SUVs in its segment to offer such a unique and stylish design.
Interior and Features
Step inside the Curvv ICE, and you’ll find a well-appointed cabin with premium materials and a modern layout. The 4-spoke steering wheel is familiar from the Tata Harrier, and the dashboard features a strip of ambient lighting that adds a touch of sophistication.
The Curvv ICE comes equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other notable features include a 9-speaker JBL audio system, panoramic sunroof, auto climate control, air purifier, and ventilated front seats. Safety is a priority with six airbags standard across all trims. Higher variants also offer ADAS features, an electronic parking brake, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
Engine Options and Performance
Tata Motors has provided customers with a choice of three engines for the Curvv ICE. There are two turbo petrol options: a 1.2-litre unit producing 118 bhp and 170 Nm of torque, and a newer 1.2-litre T-GDI engine generating 123 bhp and 225 Nm. For diesel enthusiasts, there’s a 1.5-litre engine that delivers 113 bhp and 260 Nm of peak torque.
Both petrol and diesel engines can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This makes the Curvv ICE the first diesel SUV in its segment to offer a dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Rivals and Competition
The Tata Curvv ICE faces stiff competition from a range of popular SUVs in the Indian market. Its rivals include the Citroen Basalt, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq, Toyota Hyryder, and the Volkswagen Taigun.
With its stylish design, feature-rich interior, and efficient engine options, the Tata Curvv ICE is well-positioned to attract buyers looking for a modern and versatile SUV.
