Renault Kiger and Triber CNG Variants Set for March Launch

Renault Kiger and Triber

Renault is poised to make its Kiger SUV and Triber MPV even more attractive to budget-conscious buyers by introducing CNG versions in March. This marks the automaker’s first foray into the factory-fitted CNG market. This move could significantly boost sales, as the brand has historically struggled to gain substantial market share despite competitive pricing.

While official specifications are yet to be released, it’s anticipated that the Kiger CNG and Triber CNG will utilize the existing 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which currently produces 72 PS. Although this engine is available with both a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT, the CNG variants are likely to be offered exclusively with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Both the Kiger and Triber recently received model year 2025 updates, making their engines E20 fuel-compliant and adding convenience features to lower trims. Notably, the Kiger also became the most affordable SUV in its segment to offer a turbo-petrol automatic combination.

The top-spec CNG versions of the Kiger and Triber are expected to share many of the features found in their petrol counterparts. These could include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, a 6-speaker sound system, wireless phone charging, and keyless entry with push-button start/stop. Safety features are also expected to be comprehensive, potentially including four airbags, ABS with EBD, a reverse parking camera with sensors, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

Pricing for the CNG variants will likely be higher than their petrol equivalents. The 2025 Kiger currently ranges from Rs 6.10 lakh to Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom), and the 2025 Triber is priced between Rs 6.10 lakh and Rs 8.75 lakh (ex-showroom).

Upon launch, the Kiger CNG will compete with CNG versions of popular SUVs like the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Brezza, Tata Nexon, Punch, and Hyundai Exter. The Triber CNG will offer an alternative to CNG-powered MPVs such as the Maruti Ertiga, XL6, and Toyota Rumion.
