Kia has officially launched its new compact SUV, the Syros, in India. Pre-bookings, which began on January 3rd for a token amount of ₹25,000, have now transitioned into sales, with deliveries expected to begin mid-February. The Syros slots into Kia’s lineup between the Sonet and the Seltos, offering a competitive option in the crowded compact SUV segment.
The Syros is available with both petrol and diesel engine options, and in a range of trims. Here’s a breakdown of the ex-showroom (Delhi) prices:

Petrol:
- HTK MT: ₹9 lakh
- HTK (O) MT: ₹10 lakh
- HTK+ MT: ₹11.5 lakh
- HTX MT: ₹13.3 lakh
- HTK+ AT: ₹12.8 lakh
- HTX AT: ₹14.6 lakh
- HTX+ AT: ₹16 lakh
Diesel:

An optional Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) package is available for the top-spec HTX+ trim for an additional ₹80,000.
The Syros’ pricing positions it strategically within Kia’s existing SUV lineup. For reference, the Sonet petrol models range from ₹8 lakh to ₹14.95 lakh, while the Seltos petrol models range from ₹11.13 lakh to ₹20.51 lakh. Similarly, the Sonet diesel models range from ₹10 lakh to ₹15.70 lakh, and the Seltos diesel models range from ₹12.71 lakh to ₹20.51 lakh.

Design and Colors:
The Syros’ design language draws inspiration from Kia’s global SUVs, including the EV9 and EV3, incorporating these cues into a sub-4-meter, tallboy design. The front fascia is characterized by an upright stance and low-set vertical LED headlights. Cladding is used extensively along the lower body, and the top-spec variant features striking tri-petal 17-inch alloy wheels.
The side profile showcases body-colored B-pillars, blacked-out A-, C-, and D-pillars, roof rails, flush door handles, and a sharply angled rear window. The rear features high-mounted L-shaped taillamps and a two-tone black and silver rear bumper with integrated stop lamps and turn indicators.
Eight color options are offered: Aurora Black Pearl, Frost Blue, Glacier White Pearl, Gravity Grey, Imperial Blue, Intense Red, Pewter Olive, and Sparkling Silver.

Interior and Safety:
The Syros’ interior features a clean and well-organized dashboard. Two prominent 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment system and instrument cluster are joined by a smaller 5-inch screen for climate control information. A two-spoke steering wheel with an off-center Kia logo and horizontally oriented AC vents complete the dash design. Kia emphasizes the Syros’ interior space, maximized by its tallboy design.
Feature highlights include ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, reclining and sliding second-row seats with a center armrest and 60:40 split-folding capability, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless charging pad, a panoramic sunroof, a powered driver’s seat, an electronic parking brake, and an 8-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
Safety features include six airbags, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS (available as an option on the HTX+ trim).

Powertrain:
The Kia Syros offers two engine options:
- Petrol: 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol (120hp, 172Nm) with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT.
- Diesel: 1.5-litre four-cylinder (116hp, 250Nm) with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic.
The Syros competes in the Indian compact SUV segment against rivals like the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Skoda Kylaq, and Hyundai Venue.
