Toyota has unveiled a refreshed Corolla Altis GR Sport in Thailand, offering a sportier aesthetic and a few mechanical tweaks. While it may not deliver the full-blown performance of a GR Yaris or GR Corolla, the GR Sport trim aims to inject some excitement into the otherwise mild-mannered sedan.

Exterior Updates:

The 2025 Corolla Altis GR Sport sports a more aggressive front fascia, featuring a larger, blacked-out grille and sharper headlights. The side profile remains largely unchanged, but the car now rides on new 17-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, a new rear spoiler and redesigned taillights complete the sporty look.

Interior Enhancements:

Inside, the GR Sport cabin is adorned with sporty touches like perforated suede upholstery with red contrast stitching, a GR-branded steering wheel, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. A 9-inch infotainment display and a color head-up display are also standard.

Powertrain and Performance:

Under the hood, the Corolla Altis GR Sport continues to utilize the same 1.8-liter hybrid powertrain, producing 121 horsepower. However, Toyota has introduced a new lithium-ion battery, replacing the older nickel-metal hydride unit. This upgrade improves fuel efficiency, with the new model achieving a claimed 4.2 liters per 100 kilometers.

While the GR Sport trim adds a dash of sportiness to the Corolla Altis, it’s important to note that it’s more about style than substance. The performance upgrades are minimal, and the car’s core character remains that of a comfortable and fuel-efficient family sedan.
