KTM 390 Adventure X and S Coming to India: Specs and Details Revealed

KTM 390 Adventure X and S

KTM has finally revealed the specs for its highly anticipated 2025 390 Adventure motorcycle lineup, three months after its initial global unveiling and nearly two months after its India debut. The series will offer three distinct models worldwide: the road-focused 390 Adventure X, the more off-road capable 390 Adventure S, and the hardcore, adventure-ready 390 Adventure R. India will receive the X and S versions, while the R model will be exclusive to international markets.

The new 390 Adventure boasts a redesigned aesthetic, drawing inspiration from KTM’s Dakar Rally bikes. It features a dual-projector LED headlight setup with integrated DRLs, a new “beak” style front fender, and a sharper front cowl. The overall design presents a more top-heavy profile. Wheel configurations vary by model: the R sports 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoked wheels with tubeless Mitas Enduro Trail tires, the X uses 19-inch front and 17-inch rear cast alloy wheels with road-biased rubber, and the India-bound S, showcased at India Bike Week 2024, features 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoked wheels with Apollo Tramplr tires.

All 2025 390 Adventure models share the new 399 cc LC4c single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine borrowed from the latest 390 Duke.

This powerplant generates 44 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 39 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The transmission benefits from an assist and slipper clutch, as well as a bi-directional quickshifter. KTM has refined the gearbox, particularly fifth and sixth gears, for smoother shifting. The company claims a fuel efficiency of 29 kmpl across the range.

The 390 Adventure range rides on a new steel trellis frame and a more rigid subframe compared to its predecessor. Suspension setups differ between models. The R gets fully adjustable 43 mm WP Apex USD forks and a rear monoshock, both offering 230 mm of travel. The X uses the same suspension components, but travel is reduced to 200 mm at both ends. Braking is handled by a 320 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc, both with ByBre radial calipers.

Seat height and ground clearance also vary. The R has a taller seat height of 870 mm and a ground clearance of 272 mm, while the X offers a lower 825 mm seat height and 232 mm ground clearance. Both models share a 14-liter fuel tank and weigh 165 kg dry (183 kg kerb weight).

In terms of features, the 390 Adventure lineup is well-equipped. All models include a 5-inch TFT digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity. Other standard features include cruise control, cornering traction control, cornering ABS, ride modes (Street, Rain, and Off-road), and a dedicated Off-road ABS mode. However, the base X model omits cruise control, cornering traction control, ride modes, and cornering ABS, though it retains off-road ABS. All models feature adjustable footpegs with two positions (standing or seated).

While KTM previously indicated a January launch for India, the bikes have first been released in the UK, with prices ranging from £5,399 (approximately ₹5.8 lakh) for the X to £6,699 (approximately ₹7.2 lakh) for the R. UK deliveries are slated to begin in March. Indian pricing, however, is expected to be significantly lower due to local production. Official prices are anticipated soon, with deliveries likely to follow later in the year.
