BMW Motorrad Unveils F 900 GS and F 900 GS Adventure in India

BMW Motorrad has expanded its adventure motorcycle lineup in India with the launch of the F 900 GS and F 900 GS Adventure. These new models are the successors to the popular F 850 GS and offer significant improvements in terms of performance, features, and versatility.

Pricing and Availability:

The F 900 GS is priced at Rs. 13.75 lakh, while the F 900 GS Adventure commands a premium of Rs. 14.75 lakh (ex-showroom). Both models will be available as completely built-up units (CBUs) and deliveries are expected to commence in October 2024.

Engine and Performance:

Under the hood, both bikes are powered by a new 895cc, twin-cylinder engine that replaces the previous 853cc unit. This upgraded engine delivers a substantial boost in power and torque, producing 105 bhp at 8500 rpm and 93 Nm at 6750 rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox, ensuring smooth and efficient power delivery.

Chassis and Suspension:

The F 900 twins share a bridge-type chassis that connects to the rear wheel via an aluminum swingarm directly linked to a central spring strut. This setup provides a solid foundation for both on-road and off-road riding.

Differences Between F 900 GS and F 900 GS Adventure:

While both bikes share the same engine and chassis, they differ in terms of dimensions, weight, and a few other aspects to cater to different riding preferences.

• F 900 GS: This model is more focused on off-road performance with minimal, rally-style bodywork and a lower kerb weight of 226 kg. It also features a smaller 14.5-liter fuel tank.
• F 900 GS Adventure: Designed as a more versatile all-rounder, the Adventure trim offers a larger 23-liter fuel tank and a more comfortable seat. It’s better suited for long-distance touring and mixed-terrain riding.

Features and Technology:

Both bikes come equipped with a range of modern features, including multiple riding modes, power modes, traction control, ABS, a bi-directional quick shifter, and a large 6.5-inch color TFT display. These features enhance rider comfort, safety, and convenience.

Color Options:

The F 900 GS is available in two variants: Style Passion (Sao Paulo Yellow) and GS Trophy (Lightweight/Racing Blue Metallic). The F 900 GS Adventure comes in Black Storm Metallic and White Aluminium matt.
