Triumph Motorcycles is gearing up to expand its lineup in India with two new 400cc models during the upcoming festive season (October – November 2024). This move aligns with earlier statements from Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of Bajaj Auto, who mentioned that Triumph plans to introduce a new motorcycle annually for the next three years. One of the anticipated models is the Triumph Thruxton 400, which has been spotted undergoing tests. It features a café racer design with a frame-mounted half-fairing, clip-on handlebars, bar-end mirrors, and rear-set footpegs. The Thruxton 400 is expected to be powered by the same 398.15cc engine found in the Speed 400, delivering 40PS and 37.5Nm. Pricing is anticipated to be around ₹2.62 lakh (ex-showroom), similar to the Triumph Scrambler 400 X.
In addition to the Thruxton 400, Triumph may also release a faired and an unfaired version of this model, along with a second new motorcycle, though details about this are still scarce. This strategy will provide a range of affordable options, enhancing Triumph’s competitive edge in the sub-450cc retro roadster market, where competitors have so far introduced only one model and have not disclosed future plans.
