On Sunday, residents of Mumbai were surprised by an unexpected sight—a fountain suddenly gushing out of the middle of a bustling road. The incident took place on Chandivali Farm Road in Powai, and a video capturing the unusual event quickly went viral on social media.
As the video spread, many online speculated that the fountain was a result of the heavy rainfall that had recently drenched the city. However, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) soon stepped in to clear up the confusion. According to the BMC, the fountain was actually the result of a routine maintenance operation aimed at cleaning the main water pipeline in the area.
Responding to inquiries on social media platform X, the BMC clarified, “The water fountain was part of a flushing operation to clean the main water pipeline. Thank you for engaging with us!”
The video, which initially sparked curiosity and speculation, was thus revealed to be a scheduled maintenance activity, rather than a weather-related mishap.
