BMW has unveiled the F 450 GS concept at EICMA 2024, a potential rival to KTM’s newly launched 390 ADV R. This new mid-size adventure bike fills the gap between BMW’s G 310 GS and the larger F 800 and F 900 models.
The F 450 GS concept is powered by an all-new 450cc twin-cylinder engine that delivers 47 horsepower. This engine is paired with a lightweight chassis, constructed using materials like magnesium, to keep the bike’s weight down to a mere 175 kg. The suspension setup includes fully adjustable front forks and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock. The bike rolls on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear spoked wheels, although cast aluminum wheels are expected for the production model.
The F 450 GS concept boasts a range of advanced features, including a 6.5-inch TFT display, electronic rider aids like cornering ABS, traction control, and multiple riding modes, as well as Bluetooth connectivity.
There’s speculation that BMW may partner with TVS to manufacture the F 450 GS at its Indian plant. This collaboration could lead to competitive pricing and potentially spawn a family of motorcycles based on the new 450cc platform, including potential supersport and streetfighter models.
