BMW Unveils 2025 S1000R and M1000R: More Power, More Tech

BMW Motorrad has unveiled the 2025 editions of its popular naked roadsters, the S1000R and M1000R, with a range of significant updates. These bikes, known for their performance and aggressive styling, have been refined to offer even more power, improved handling, and enhanced rider safety.

Powertrain Upgrades

The heart of these motorcycles, the 999cc inline-four-cylinder engine, has been tuned to deliver 168 bhp, an increase over the previous model. This boost in power is achieved through optimized intake port geometry and refined fuel mapping. While peak torque remains at 114 Nm, the 6-speed gearbox has been revised with a shorter second gear and final drive ratio for improved responsiveness at road-legal speeds.

Enhanced Safety Features

BMW has equipped the 2025 models with Drag Torque Control (MSR) and Engine Brake Control as standard. These systems work together to prevent rear-wheel slip during sudden throttle cuts or aggressive downshifts, enhancing rider safety. Additionally, the new M short-stroke throttle grip reduces the throttle action, making it more precise and responsive.

Design Refinements

The 2025 S1000R and M1000R feature a sleeker design with twin LED headlights inspired by the RR models, giving them a more aggressive and modern look. Other visual updates include a streamlined number plate holder and a convenient under-seat USB-C charging port. Both models also come standard with an emergency call system for added peace of mind.

M1000R Specific Upgrades

The M1000R, the higher-performance variant, benefits from an updated traction control system derived from the RR model, providing even sharper handling and stability. Additionally, optional carbon fiber winglets can be added to further enhance aerodynamic performance and high-speed stability.
