Nikhil Kamath, the 37-year-old co-founder of Zerodha, recently made headlines after being spotted riding a motorcycle with rumored girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty in Mumbai. However, the billionaire’s joyride took an unexpected turn when eagle-eyed internet users discovered that his bike had expired insurance.
In viral videos from two days ago, Kamath was seen cruising around Bandra on a Suzuki Intruder VZR 1800 ZL2 motorcycle. Dressed casually and wearing protective gear, he was accompanied by Rhea Chakraborty on the pillion seat.

Social media users quickly noticed the bike’s license number and began investigating. One X user revealed that the bike’s insurance had expired in July 2023. The user also confirmed that Kamath, a resident of Bengaluru, was the bike’s first owner.
The Suzuki Intruder VZR 1800 ZL2, also known as the Suzuki Intruder M1800R in some markets, is a discontinued model that was once priced between ₹15.95 lakh to ₹16.45 lakhs in India. With on-road prices reaching ₹18 lakh, it’s a powerful and luxurious motorcycle.
According to the CarInfo app, Kamath registered the bike in April 2012 in Bengaluru. The expired insurance highlights a potential oversight on his part, despite his considerable wealth and success.
Nikhil Kamath, along with his brother Nithin Kamath, founded Zerodha in 2010. This venture propelled him to become the youngest billionaire in India. In addition to his role at Zerodha, Kamath is also the co-founder of asset management firm True Beacon and hosts a popular podcast.
While the incident may seem minor, it serves as a reminder that even the most successful individuals can make mistakes. It also highlights the importance of ensuring that all vehicles are properly insured to avoid legal complications and financial losses.
