Bugatti Chiron vs. Koenigsegg Jesko: Epic Drag Race Decided by Inches

Bugatti Chiron Vs. Koenigsegg Jesko

CarWow, celebrating a milestone of 10 million subscribers, orchestrated a high-octane showdown between two automotive titans: the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport and the Koenigsegg Jesko Attack. The question at hand: which hypercar reigns supreme in a straight-line acceleration test?

The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport boasts an 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine, delivering a staggering 1,578 horsepower and 1,180 lb-ft of torque. Power is distributed to all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Despite its formidable power, the Chiron is a heavyweight, tipping the scales at 1,995 kg.

In contrast, the Koenigsegg Jesko Attack features a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8, producing 1,280 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque. This rear-wheel-drive hypercar utilizes Koenigsegg’s proprietary nine-speed Lightspeed transmission. Crucially, the Jesko is significantly lighter than the Chiron, weighing in at 1,420 kg.

The initial drag race saw the Jesko struggle with traction, allowing the all-wheel-drive Chiron to gain a decisive lead and secure an easy victory. However, the second race proved to be a much closer contest. The Jesko managed a better launch, and the two cars remained neck-and-neck as speeds increased. The race culminated in a photo finish, with the Chiron narrowly edging out the Jesko. Both cars completed the quarter-mile in 9.6 seconds.

Rolling races were also conducted, with the first starting from 10 mph in first gear and the second from 62 mph in third gear. The Chiron’s superior traction gave it the win in the first rolling race, while the Jesko’s mid-range power proved dominant in the second.

It’s noteworthy that the Jesko tested was not equipped with Koenigsegg’s optional E85 engine upgrade, which would have boosted its power output to 1,600 horsepower. This upgrade would potentially make it a more formidable competitor against the Chiron.
