Nuna Baby Essentials has issued a significant recall affecting 608,786 Rava car seats in the United States. The recall stems from a potential safety concern where debris can enter the front harness adjuster, potentially hindering the proper clamping of the adjuster strap to the teeth of the mechanism.
The recall encompasses specific Rava models with model numbers CS-05, CS05101, CS05103, CS05104, CS05105, CS05106, CS05109, CS05110, CS05111, CS05114, and CS05115. These models, manufactured between July 16, 2016, and October 25, 2023, feature a plastic harness adjuster, distinguishing them from other Rava models with fabric-covered adjusters.
This recall follows an investigation initiated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) after receiving customer complaints regarding loose harnesses. While no injuries or fatalities have been reported, Nuna proactively issued the recall to ensure the safety of children.
Instead of replacing the car seats, Nuna will provide owners with a free remedy kit. This kit includes a new seat pad designed to cover the plastic area and prevent debris from entering the adjuster mechanism. The kit also includes instructions for installing the new pad, cleaning the harness adjuster area, a screwdriver for removing and replacing the plastic cover, and a brush for cleaning the adjuster’s teeth.
Nuna emphasized its commitment to safety and customer satisfaction, stating, “We take pride that you have chosen our gear to be part of your everyday life with your family, so it’s no surprise that responsibility and dependability are two of Nuna’s core values. We strive to always provide the best, safest gear possible.”
Nuna will directly contact all registered owners of the affected Rava seats, notifying them of the recall and providing instructions on how to obtain the remedy kit. Unregistered owners are encouraged to register their seats online or contact Nuna directly to receive the necessary information and remedy kit.
