A roadside confrontation in the Cayman Islands, involving a high-profile vehicle and a stark age disparity, has sparked public outrage and a police inquiry. The incident, which unfolded on Grand Cayman, saw a 72-year-old businessman become embroiled in a physical altercation with a 17-year-old driver, triggered by a traffic dispute.
The older man, Larry McGean, was reportedly driving his Tesla Cybertruck when the younger driver, operating a Hyundai Kona, allegedly cut him off, forcing McGean to brake sharply. The resulting confrontation quickly escalated. Video footage circulating online shows McGean approaching the teenager’s vehicle and engaging in a heated verbal exchange. The situation then turned physical, with McGean appearing to force his way into the Hyundai. In response, the teenager placed him in a chokehold.

This disparity in police response has drawn sharp criticism from local residents, who question the handling of the case. Many feel that McGean’s actions, as depicted in the video, warranted a more severe response than a mere warning. The incident has also fueled wider discussions about the perceived preferential treatment afforded to wealthy expatriates compared to native Caymanians.
