Air India, one of India’s major airlines, has announced a significant expansion of its fleet. The airline has placed an order for an additional 100 Airbus aircraft, comprising 10 widebody A350s and 90 narrowbody A320 Family planes. This brings Air India’s total Airbus order for 2023 to 350 aircraft.
To support its growing fleet, Air India has also signed a contract with Airbus for comprehensive maintenance services for its A350 aircraft. This will ensure optimal performance and reliability of the fleet.
Natarajan Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons and Air India, expressed his enthusiasm for the expansion, stating that it will help position Air India as a world-class airline. Guillaume Faury, CEO of Airbus, welcomed the order and highlighted the strong growth of the Indian aviation sector.
With this new order, Air India will operate a fleet of 344 Airbus aircraft, including the fuel-efficient A350 and the efficient A320 Family. These aircraft will play a crucial role in connecting India to various destinations worldwide and providing a premium travel experience to passengers.
