Royal Enfield has finally brought its first electric motorcycle, the Flying Flea, to India after its initial unveiling at EICMA 2024 in Milan. This retro-styled e-bike is generating considerable buzz with its unique design, reminiscent of the World War II-era Flying Flea motorcycle.
The Flying Flea sports a distinctive look, blending classic roadster aesthetics with modern touches. A round LED headlight and matching indicators complement the eye-catching girder fork, a feature rarely seen on contemporary bikes. The slim, teardrop-shaped “tank” houses the battery pack (complete with cooling fins), while the scooped single-piece seat offers the option for a pillion seat, similar to the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650. The rear of the bike maintains a clean design, featuring a braced fender with integrated taillight and indicators.

Although Royal Enfield hasn’t released official performance figures, it’s anticipated that the Flying Flea will offer performance comparable to a 250-300cc gasoline-powered motorcycle. This suggests a focus on balancing performance with a reasonable range from a sensibly sized battery. The bike rides on 19-inch alloy wheels at both ends and utilizes disc brakes for stopping power. The suspension system consists of the aforementioned girder fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Power is delivered to the rear wheel via a traditional chain drive.

The Flying Flea is equipped with a round TFT instrument console, similar to the one found on the Himalayan 450, but with a unique theme and layout. This display provides essential information such as speed, odometer readings, trip data, battery status, and range. Smartphone connectivity is also supported. Other notable features include keyless ignition and an emergency safety switch located on the “tank.”
