In a surprisingly swift move, Honda has unveiled a refreshed version of its 11th-generation Accord in China, less than two years after its initial launch. This update, focused primarily on the vehicle’s front fascia, aims to inject a dose of visual dynamism into the popular sedan.
The most notable changes are concentrated at the front. The headlights, while retaining their overall shape, feature subtle internal adjustments. The daytime running lights have been extended, reaching further towards the edges of the redesigned grille. Notably, the previously prominent orange reflectors have been removed, contributing to a cleaner aesthetic. The new grille, characterized by 19 precisely arranged horizontal silver slats, maintains the original dimensions but offers a distinct visual texture. A more aggressively styled front bumper, with sharper angles, provides a sportier and more personalized appearance compared to the global Accord model. The rear of the vehicle remains largely unchanged, preserving the familiar taillight design and LED light bar.

The interior layout and technological features remain consistent with the previous model. This includes a circular screen/rotary dial below the air vents, a large 15-inch infotainment display, and a digital instrument cluster.

Under the hood, the refreshed Accord continues to offer the same powertrain options. These include a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine generating 189 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque, and a 2.0-liter plug-in hybrid variant producing 181 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque, with an impressive all-electric range of approximately 66 miles.

Whether these design updates will be implemented in the global Accord remains uncertain, as Honda has not released any official statements regarding international model changes. The relatively minor nature of the revisions suggests that a significant redesign for other markets is unlikely in the immediate future.

It’s also worth noting that in the Chinese market, the Honda Inspire, produced by Honda’s partnership with Dongfeng, competes alongside the Accord. The Inspire, essentially a sibling model with distinct front and rear styling, offers both traditional and plug-in hybrid powertrains, providing Chinese consumers with an alternative choice in the mid-size sedan segment.
