Tata Altroz Racer Gets Teased Ahead of June 2024 Launch

Tata Altroz Racer

Ahead of its launch in June 2024, the Tata Altroz Racer was first teased. The Altroz Racer made its first appearance at the Auto Expo 2023 and was then showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo earlier this year. In addition to a slightly more powerful turbo-petrol engine, the sportier variant of the Altroz will also receive additional features.

What We Saw In The Teaser

The teaser only shows the half profile of the Tata Altroz Racer. It gets a new orange and black color scheme and an extended rear spoiler for a sportier look. However, the design of the alloy wheels remains the same as before, but on the Altroz Racer they have been painted black.

Other Expected Changes

The Altroz Racer will also feature styling details to enhance its sportier appearance compared to the regular Altroz. These changes would likely include a revised grille and dual-exit exhaust. Two white stripes should also extend from the hood to the tip of the roof, as seen in recent spy photos.

For More Features

The Tata Altroz Racer will also have additional features over the regular Altroz. Updates include a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay, a new 7-inch fully digital driver display, ventilated front seats, a head-up display and wireless phone charging. The safety net is also improved with the inclusion of six airbags and a 360-degree camera.

More Powerful Turbo Gasoline Engine

The Altroz Racer will use the more powerful turbo petrol engine adopted from the Nexon. The specifications are detailed below:

  • Engine: 1.2 liter turbocharged petrol engine
  • Power: 120 HP
  • Torque: 170 Nm
  • Transmission: 6-speed MT, 7-speed DCT (expected)

Compared to the regular Altroz, its sportier version will come with a new 6-speed manual transmission, while it can also be equipped with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT).

Tata already markets a turbo-petrol variant of the Altroz with the “i-Turbo” suffix, which uses the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine (110 hp / 140 Nm) associated with a 5-speed manual gearbox . The Altroz Racer is expected to be sold alongside the Altroz i-Turbo.

Expected Price and Competitors

The Tata Altroz Racer is expected to be priced at Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). The Altroz Racer will be a direct competitor to the Hyundai i20 N Line.
