New Generation Cars Set to Rev Up the Indian Market in 2024

New Generation Cars

Facelifts are a common sight in the auto industry, offering manufacturers a chance to keep their existing models fresh. But to truly extend a car’s lifecycle and stay competitive, carmakers sometimes introduce entirely new generations. These new generations represent a complete overhaul, offering significant improvements in design, features, and performance.

This year, the Indian car market is set to witness the launch of several exciting new-generation cars. Let’s take a closer look at three of the most anticipated ones:

The New-Gen Kia Carnival (KA4): A Premium MPV with Muscle

Kia is gearing up to launch the new-gen Carnival (KA4) in India this festive season. This will be the facelifted version of the globally launched 4th generation Carnival, which debuted in October 2023. The upcoming Carnival has already been spotted testing in India, hinting at its imminent arrival.

The new Carnival promises significant upgrades. It will be built on an all-new N3 platform and powered by the familiar 2.2-liter turbo diesel engine, churning out a healthy 200 bhp and 440 Nm of peak torque. Expect larger dimensions for a more imposing presence, along with an SUV-inspired front fascia that aligns with Kia’s latest design language. The Carnival is likely to be sold via the CKD route in India, taking on rivals like the Toyota Innova Hycross.

The New-Gen Maruti Suzuki Dzire: A Compact Sedan with Big Aspirations

Following the successful launch of the new-gen Swift, Maruti Suzuki is prepping to introduce the next-generation Dzire this festive season. This compact sedan will borrow heavily from its hatchback sibling, sharing the platform, powertrain, and many features. However, the Dzire will boast a longer wheelbase for enhanced legroom and a bigger boot for improved practicality. Spy shots reveal a distinct front fascia compared to the Swift, with a likely unique rear-end design as well.

Powering the new Dzire will be the familiar Z12E 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder petrol engine, producing 80.46 bhp and 111.7 Nm of torque. Interestingly, the new Dzire might be the first car in its segment to offer a sunroof, as seen in recent test mules. Feature upgrades are expected to include automatic climate control, keyless entry, cruise control, and a larger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The cabin layout will likely mirror the new Swift, but with a lighter color theme for a more airy feel.

The New-Gen Honda Amaze: A Familiar Favorite Gets a Refresh

Honda is also expected to join the festive season party with the launch of the all-new Amaze. This update promises a significant refresh for the popular compact sedan, focusing on both interior and exterior enhancements. While the powertrain and gearbox combinations are likely to remain unchanged, the feature list is expected to receive a premium upgrade.
