The festive season is just around the corner, and India’s automotive market is gearing up for a flurry of new SUV launches. Major car manufacturers like Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra, and Kia are introducing exciting new models across various segments to cater to the growing demand for SUVs.
Here’s a breakdown of what’s in store:
1. Hyundai Alcazar Facelift
Hyundai will kick off the festive season with the launch of the facelifted Alcazar on September 9. This updated three-row SUV draws inspiration from the latest Creta and boasts a more modern design. It will also be equipped with Level 2 ADAS and over 70 connected features. Under the hood, the Alcazar will retain its 1.5L diesel and 1.5L turbo petrol engines, paired with both manual and automatic transmissions.
2. Tata Curvv
Tata Motors is also set to launch the ICE version of the Curvv on September 3. This mid-size SUV will be available with three engine options: a 1.2L Revotron petrol, a 1.2L GDI petrol, and a 1.5L diesel. While the Curvv will share many features with its recently launched electric sibling, its exterior design will differ slightly. Upon its release, the Curvv will compete with the Citroen Basalt and other mid-size SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and Honda Elevate.
3. Kia EV9
Kia India is preparing to launch two highly anticipated models in October: the fourth-generation Carnival and the EV9. Both models are expected to be initially imported via the CBU route. The EV9, Kia’s flagship electric SUV, boasts a maximum WLTP-rated range of more than 541 km and will be packed with advanced features.
4. Mahindra XUV 3XO EV
Mahindra is also gearing up to launch the electric variant of its XUV 3XO compact SUV. Slotted below the XUV 400, the XUV 3XO EV will compete with the Tata Punch EV. It is expected to feature a smaller battery pack than the XUV 400, offering a claimed driving range of up to 400 km on a single charge. The design elements will be largely shared with its ICE sibling.
5. Tata Nexon CNG
Tata Motors has showcased the CNG version of the Nexon at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo and is expected to launch the production model soon. The Nexon CNG will feature the twin-cylinder technology found in other Tata models and is expected to be available in multiple trim levels.
With so many exciting new SUVs on the horizon, the festive season promises to be a bumper time for the Indian automotive market. These launches are expected to drive sales and further fuel the growing popularity of SUVs in India.
