The Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) awards, considered the most prestigious in the Indian automotive industry, have concluded, with a distinguished panel of 20 judges from leading publications, including Kranti Sambhav and Rohit Paradkar from OVERDRIVE, determining the winners. This esteemed jury, comprising seasoned experts from across the automotive media landscape, meticulously evaluated nominees based on key criteria such as performance, practicality, fuel efficiency, and safety. Each year, the ICOTY jury selects eight finalists in each category, and this year, the Premium Car Award 2025 saw a competitive field, including the BYD Seal, BMW i5, Mercedes-Benz EQS, Mercedes EQS Maybach, Mini Cooper S, BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Kia Carnival, and the BMW M5.
The coveted Premium Car Award 2025 was awarded to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, achieving a commendable score of 140 points. The award was presented by Dr. Raghupati Singhania, MD of JK Tyre, a long-standing supporter of the ICOTY and IMOTY awards. Deloitte, as the knowledge partner, ensured transparency and integrity throughout the evaluation process.
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class, renowned for its luxury and refinement, offers a range of powerful engine options, including a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol and diesel engine, generating 200PS/320Nm and 197PS/440Nm, respectively. A new 3.0-liter, six-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 381PS is also available, further enhancing performance. All engines are seamlessly paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The E-Class boasts a comprehensive suite of premium features, including a panoramic sunroof, projector headlamps, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), eight airbags, electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), anti-lock brakes (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC), hill descent control, and a 360-degree camera for enhanced safety and convenience.
The BMW 5 Series and Kia Carnival secured the first and second runner-up positions, respectively, with scores of 107 and 65 points.
