Alpina Celebrates 60 Years with the Limited-Edition B8 GT

Alpina B8 GT

Alpina marks its 60th anniversary with the exclusive B8 GT, a limited-production model based on BMW’s 8-Series Gran Coupe. Only 99 units of this high-performance vehicle will be made, featuring Alpina’s most powerful engine to date. The 4.4-liter bi-turbo V8 generates 634 hp (643 PS) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque, surpassing the BMW M8’s 617 hp and 553 lb-ft. With a top speed of 205 mph (330 kmh), the B8 GT eclipses the M8’s electronically limited 190 mph. Although slightly slower to 62 mph at 3.3 seconds, Alpina’s updates, including improved sound and handling, ensure a refined yet thrilling driving experience.

Alpina has enhanced the B8 GT with unique design elements, including carbon-fiber components like a diffuser, air ducts, and dive planes. Its signature 21-inch forged wheels boast aluminum center caps, emphasizing craftsmanship. Exclusive touches include “B8 GT” badging on door sills and B-pillars, with optional understated carbon metallic stripes. Buyers can select from seven paint options, with 20 cars offering dual-tone finishes in blue or green paired with black.

Priced at €225,000 ($232,000), the B8 GT is far costlier than the $140,000 M8 Gran Coupe but offers unparalleled luxury. Premium Merino leather, branded luggage, and a console plaque featuring founder Burkard Bovensiepen’s signature add exclusivity. However, the interior retains BMW’s dated in-dash touchscreen design.

Following BMW’s acquisition of Alpina in 2022, this model could become a collector’s item. As the brand transitions to BMW’s control next year, enthusiasts eagerly anticipate Alpina’s future direction under new leadership.
