Royal Enfield Guerilla 450

Royal Enfield has expanded its adventure-tourer portfolio with the Himalayan 450 and is now diving into the roadster segment with the highly anticipated Guerrilla 450. This retro-styled motorcycle promises a fun and engaging riding experience, making it a potential contender in the growing mid-sized motorcycle market.

Priced competitively at ₹ 2.39 lakh to ₹ 2.54 lakh (ex-showroom), the Guerrilla 450 offers three variants – Flash, Dash, and Analog – each with its distinct features and color options. The motorcycle’s design is a classic blend of retro aesthetics and modern elements, making it visually appealing to a wide range of riders.

Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 Design: A Retro Revival

The Guerrilla 450 boasts a timeless design that harkens back to the golden era of motorcycling. The round LED headlight, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, minimalist bodywork, and low seat create a classic roadster silhouette. Royal Enfield has focused on creating a motorcycle that not only looks good but also delivers a comfortable riding experience suitable for daily commuting.

Powertrain and Performance: A Balanced Package

Under the skin, the Guerrilla 450 shares its engine with the Himalayan 450. The 452 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine produces 39.47 bhp and 40 Nm of torque, ensuring a healthy dose of performance. The six-speed gearbox, equipped with a slip and assist clutch, promises smooth shifts and effortless control.

Chassis and Handling: Agile and Comfortable

The Guerrilla 450’s steel tubular frame, with the engine acting as a stressed member, provides a solid foundation. The suspension setup, comprising a 43 mm telescopic fork at the front and a linkage-type monoshock at the rear, offers a balance of comfort and handling. The alloy wheels, shod with 120/70-17 front and 160/60-17 rear tires, contribute to the motorcycle’s agile character.

Features and Technology: Modern Touches

The Guerrilla 450 comes with a range of features to enhance the riding experience. The top two variants, Flash and Dash, boast a 4-inch circular TFT instrument cluster with integrated Google Maps and media controls. All variants feature full LED lighting and a USB Type C charging port. For those who prefer a simpler setup, the Analog variant offers a digi-analogue instrument console, similar to the RE 650 twins, with the option of adding the Tripper navigation pod.

Competition and Availability

The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 will face stiff competition from established players like the Triumph Speed 400, Hero Mavrick 440, Harley-Davidson X440, Bajaj Dominar, Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z, and KTM 390 Duke. With its unique blend of retro styling, modern features, and competitive pricing, the Guerrilla 450 aims to carve a niche for itself in the mid-sized motorcycle segment.

Bookings for the Guerrilla 450 are now open, with deliveries scheduled to commence in August 2024.
