KTM India has launched the 890 Duke R in the Indian market, priced at Rs 14.50 lakh (ex-showroom). This sharp-looking street naked motorcycle is the latest addition to KTM’s big bike portfolio.
The 890 Duke R boasts an aggressive design language, characterized by angular LED headlights, muscular tank extensions, and an exposed aluminum subframe. The bike is available in bold color schemes, with an eye-catching orange frame and wheels.
Powering the 890 Duke R is an 890cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that delivers 121 bhp and 99 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox equipped with a slipper clutch, providing a thrilling riding experience, especially in the mid-range.
The bike’s chassis comprises a tubular steel frame, fully adjustable WP Apex front forks, and a WP monoshock rear suspension. 17-inch alloy wheels and Brembo brakes (twin 320mm discs at the front and a 240mm disc at the rear) ensure precise handling and strong braking performance.
The 890 Duke R is packed with advanced electronics, including lean-sensitive traction control, cornering ABS, nine-level traction control settings, and three ride modes (Rain, Street, and Sport). An optional Track mode is also available for those seeking maximum performance. The bike features full LED lighting and a color TFT display for enhanced visibility and rider information.
While the 890 Duke R is a capable street naked, it’s worth noting that it’s a generation older than the recently introduced KTM 990 Duke. As the Indian market shifts towards more powerful and advanced motorcycles, we can hope to see the 990 Duke make its way to India in the future.
