After a brief and unsuccessful foray into the Indian motorcycle market in 2019, Chinese manufacturer CFMoto is reportedly gearing up for a renewed attempt this year. The company, based in Hangzhou, is expected to launch a range of models, with the 450MT adventure bike leading the charge. This mid-sized adventure machine has garnered positive attention in Europe for its strong off-road capabilities, featuring a parallel-twin engine, long-travel suspension, and a practical seat height, all while maintaining a competitive price point comparable to single-cylinder rivals.
This time around, CFMoto is said to be partnering with a new distributor to handle sales and distribution in India. The company plans to utilize a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) assembly model, which should help control pricing, though the final cost to consumers remains to be seen. In their previous attempt, CFMoto’s partnership with AMW Motorcycles faced challenges due to limited brand awareness and the need for costly emissions updates, ultimately leading to their withdrawal. Six years ago, they had initially introduced four models: the 300NK, 650NK, 650MT, and 650GT.

Looking ahead, CFMoto’s potential Indian lineup extends beyond the 450MT. The company is developing several new models that could be introduced, including the 675SR-R, a sportbike powered by a newly developed, in-house, inline-triple engine. Additionally, the 800MT-X, a dedicated adventure touring motorcycle, and the 800NK naked sportbike are anticipated to be part of their future offerings. There is also the possibility of the previous four models offered in India making a return.
