Nissan India has officially launched the highly anticipated fourth-generation X-Trail SUV. This marks a significant step for the automaker as it re-enters the CBU (Completely Built-Up) market in India. Priced competitively at Rs 49.92 lakh (ex-showroom), the X-Trail is a direct import under the government’s policy allowing up to 2,500 units per annum without homologation.

A Global Bestseller Comes to India

The Nissan X-Trail has garnered global recognition, securing a spot among the top 5 best-selling SUVs in 2023 with over 450,000 units sold worldwide. Its impressive sales record spanning over 7.8 million units since its inception is a testament to its popularity. The Indian launch further solidifies the X-Trail’s position as a dominant force in the SUV segment.

Nissan’s Ambitions for India

Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India, expressed the company’s excitement about the X-Trail launch, emphasizing it as a cornerstone of Nissan’s product offensive in India. The focus is on introducing premium SUVs that embody the essence of Japanese craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology. Nissan’s confidence in the Indian market is evident, as highlighted by the positive pre-booking response.

The Nissan X-Trail is designed to deliver an exceptional driving experience, blending comfort, luxury, and versatility. Its refined interiors and advanced features cater to the needs of both urban and adventurous drivers. To enhance customer peace of mind, Nissan offers a comprehensive warranty and roadside assistance package, along with optional extended maintenance plans.

Frank Torres, President of Nissan India Operations, emphasized the X-Trail’s role in fulfilling the aspirations of Indian customers seeking a premium SUV. The introduction of the fourth-generation model marks the relaunch of Nissan’s CBU business, with more exciting products in the pipeline.

Engine Specs and Features

Built on the CMF-C platform, the X-Trail boasts a striking design featuring a V-shaped grille, LED DRLs, and a modern interior. Powering the SUV is a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine delivering 163 PS and 300 Nm torque, paired with a CVT transmission. While four-wheel drive is not available in the Indian market, the X-Trail offers a comfortable and capable driving experience.

With three color options – Champagne Silver, Pearl White, and Diamond Black – customers have the flexibility to choose a vehicle that suits their style. Nissan has opened pre-bookings across its dealerships and online platform, indicating strong anticipation for the X-Trail’s arrival in India.
