Avatr Unveils New Electric Sedan, the 06

Avatr 06

The Chinese electric vehicle market continues to expand, welcoming a new contender as Avatr unveils its latest model, the Avatr 06 sedan. Positioned as the brand’s entry-level offering, this low-slung sedan shares its foundation with the Avatr 07 SUV, which debuted earlier in the year. The model is built on Changan’s architecture, equipped with CATL battery technology, and integrates advanced Huawei systems.

At first glance, the Avatr 06 bears a resemblance to the Avatr 12 Gran Coupe but features more traditional proportions. Key design elements include slim, split-design LED headlights, a minimalist front bumper, and streamlined surfaces along its sides. The car also incorporates Avatr’s signature styling language with a modern twist.

The 06 is outfitted with cutting-edge sensor technology as part of the Huawei Qiankun ADAS suite, which includes a roof-mounted LiDAR system. Its side mirrors are replaced with cameras, eliminating the need for a rear window—a bold design trend gaining traction in the EV industry. At the rear, the sedan features a sleek roofline with an integrated third brake light and a subtle spoiler on the tailgate.

Measuring 4,855 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, and 1,450 mm in height, the Avatr 06 has a wheelbase of 2,940 mm. This makes it slightly longer than the Avatr 07 SUV by 30 mm and significantly larger than the Tesla Model 3 by 135 mm.

Though the interior has not been revealed, it is expected to include futuristic features like large digital displays powered by Huawei’s Harmony OS, mirroring the premium offerings in Avatr’s other models.

The sedan is built on Avatr’s CHN platform, which underpins the entire lineup. While detailed specifications are pending, the 06 is anticipated to share powertrain options with the Avatr 07. These include rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) variants, with the RWD model expected to deliver 338 hp (252 kW) and the AWD version producing up to 590 hp (440 kW). Both versions will feature an 82 kWh battery pack.

Extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions will also be available, combining a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine with a 39 kWh battery. Buyers can choose between single or dual-motor configurations for these variants.

The Avatr 06 is slated for launch in China in early 2025. Avatr hopes this new model will strengthen its market presence, especially as its larger offerings, the Avatr 11 and 12, have struggled to meet sales expectations. Headquartered in Chongqing, the company also operates a development center in Shanghai and a design center in Munich, Germany.
