Jaguar is undergoing a radical transformation, pivoting towards an all-electric, ultra-luxury future. The first glimpse of this new era has emerged in the form of a camouflaged prototype, hinting at a sleek, four-door GT sedan that draws inspiration from both classic Jaguar design and modern electric aesthetics.
While the official name remains undisclosed, rumors suggest it could be dubbed the “I-Type,” a nod to the brand’s electric racing heritage. The design, influenced by models like the Porsche Taycan and BMW i7, features a distinctive squared-off front end, a sloping roofline, and a muscular rear haunch.
The most intriguing design element, however, is the absence of a traditional rear window. This bold design choice, reminiscent of the Polestar 4, aims to create a futuristic and aerodynamic silhouette.
Performance-wise, Jaguar has confirmed that the new EV will deliver over 567 horsepower and boast a range exceeding 430 miles. The interior, while still shrouded in mystery, is expected to offer a luxurious and technologically advanced cabin, befitting the brand’s premium positioning.
While Jaguar’s electric future is ambitious, it comes at a time when consumer preferences for electric vehicles in the luxury segment are still evolving. As Bentley and Porsche have recently adjusted their electrification timelines, it remains to be seen how Jaguar’s bold strategy will fare in the competitive luxury EV market.
