CFMoto, a prominent Chinese motorcycle manufacturer, has made a significant stride in the world of high-performance motorcycles with the unveiling of its new 997cc V-4 engine, the V.04. This engine is a testament to CFMoto’s growing ambitions and technological prowess.
The V.04 engine is a powerhouse, delivering an impressive 207 horsepower at 14,500 rpm and 11.62 kgm of torque. To achieve this level of performance while maintaining a lightweight design, CFMoto has employed advanced materials like titanium connecting rods and valves. This strategic use of materials ensures both strength and weight reduction.
Drawing inspiration from its motorsport experience, particularly in grand prix racing, CFMoto has incorporated a counter-rotating crankshaft into the V.04 engine. This technology, commonly found in MotoGP race bikes, helps to reduce the gyroscopic effect of the wheels, resulting in improved handling, especially at high speeds.
While the specific motorcycle model that will debut with the V.04 engine remains undisclosed, it is anticipated to power a high-performance race bike. Subsequently, a street-legal version of this motorcycle is also likely to be introduced. CFMoto’s “Master of Speed” sculpture provides a stylized glimpse into the potential design direction of this upcoming motorcycle, showcasing exaggerated proportions and components that hint at a production-ready machine.
With this powerful new engine and a clear focus on high-performance, CFMoto is signaling its intent to compete at the highest levels of motorsport, potentially even in MotoGP. This ambitious move positions CFMoto as a serious contender in the global motorcycle market.
