NHAI's One Vehicle, One FASTag

New Delhi, India – Get ready for significant changes in FASTag rules, set to take effect from August 1, 2024. These updates are aimed at streamlining toll payments, reducing congestion at toll plazas, and enhancing overall user experience.

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has introduced mandatory Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements for all FASTags. This means that if your FASTag is between three and five years old, you must complete the KYC process by October 31, 2024.

Key Changes in FASTag Rules

  • Mandatory KYC: All FASTags issued between three and five years ago must undergo KYC verification by October 31, 2024.
  • Replacement of Old FASTags: FASTags older than five years need to be replaced.
  • Vehicle Details Linking: Ensure your vehicle’s registration number and chassis number are linked to your FASTag.
  • New Vehicle Registration Update: If you have recently purchased a new vehicle, update the registration number on your FASTag within 90 days.
  • Database Verification: FASTag providers are required to verify their databases.
  • Clear Photo Requirement: Upload clear photos of your car’s front and side for KYC purposes.
  • Mobile Number Linking: Maintain a linked mobile number with your FASTag for seamless transactions.

Importance of Adhering to New Rules

Compliance with these new FASTag rules is crucial for several reasons:

  • Smooth Toll Payments: Updated KYC and vehicle details ensure hassle-free toll plaza experiences.
  • Security Enhancement: KYC verification strengthens the security of your FASTag account.
  • Avoiding Penalties: Failure to comply with the new rules may result in penalties.

It is essential for all FASTag users to stay informed about these changes and take necessary actions before the deadlines.
