A viral dashcam video captures a shocking incident in Manhattan, where 23-year-old Jennifer Guilbeault suddenly pepper-sprayed an Uber driver who was transporting her and another woman. The incident occurred on July 30 at approximately 11:20 p.m., according to a report by the New York Post.
The footage has ignited widespread outrage on social media, with many condemning Guilbeault’s actions as a racially motivated hate crime. The 45-year-old driver, who was engaged in a phone call at the time, is seen quickly exiting the vehicle after being attacked.

One social media user shared the video on X, writing, “Woman randomly maces Uber driver ‘because he’s brown.'” The video, which has garnered over 1.2 million views on the platform, has prompted numerous reactions. One person commented, “So much racism out there smh,” while another expressed sympathy for the driver’s companion, saying, “That poor friend was so confused. I’m glad she didn’t immediately defend her friend and was just totally shocked by what happened.”
Another user questioned the context of the incident, stating, “I’d like to see what led up to this, if he did inappropriate things yes, but if it’s just because of his race no.”
Guilbeault was arrested and charged with third-degree assault following the incident. In response to the video, an Uber spokesperson condemned her behavior, declaring, “The rider’s actions shown in the video are deplorable. Violence is not tolerated, and the rider has been banned from the Uber platform. We will support the police in their investigation in any way we can.”
