Honda Debuts Refreshed BF Series Outboard Motors at Miami Boat Show

Honda Marine

Honda Marine has unveiled a refreshed lineup of seven large outboard motors at the 2025 Miami International Boat Show. The updated models include the BF250, BF225, BF200, BF150, BF140, BF135, and BF115, and will be rolled out to markets in Japan, North America, Europe, and Asia starting mid-2025.

These seven outboard motors showcase a complete redesign, drawing inspiration from the “Noble Motion Form” design philosophy seen in Honda’s flagship BF350. The new styling aims to project a premium and sophisticated aesthetic.

Beyond aesthetics, Honda has focused on enhancing functionality and ease of use. All seven models now offer improved boat operation support, including a brand-new flash mount electronic remote-control system (DBW) and a large 7-inch multifunction display. The redesigned remote grip and larger display are intended to make operation more intuitive. Building on existing features like cruise control and trim support, Honda has added an “automatic tilt function” that automates the full tilting of the outboard motor, mirroring the smooth and comfortable boating experience offered by the BF350. This function automates raising the motor out of the water or tilting it to the optimal operating angle.

The BF250, BF225, and BF200 models have also received updates to improve performance and efficiency. An oxygen sensor has been added to these engines, enabling finer control of the air-fuel mixture, resulting in even better fuel economy and environmental performance. Maintenance has also been considered, with the addition of a mechanism to prevent oil spills into the engine cover during oil filter changes.
