Ola Electric, a prominent player in the Indian electric vehicle market, has been making headlines once again, but this time, it’s not for its highly anticipated IPO or its upcoming electric motorcycles. Instead, the company has found itself in the spotlight due to an unfortunate incident at one of its showrooms in Kalaburagi, Karnataka.
Angry Customer Sets Fire to Ola Showroom
A 26-year-old mechanic named Mohammad Nadeem purchased an Ola scooter last month, only to be plagued by recurring technical issues. Despite multiple visits to the Kalaburagi service center, Nadeem’s complaints remained unaddressed. Frustrated with the lack of customer service, he took drastic measures.
Nadeem purchased petrol, doused several Ola scooters in the showroom with it, and set them ablaze. Luckily, no one was injured in the incident, but the fire caused significant damage to the showroom, estimated to be around Rs 8 lakh. Firefighters were able to quickly contain the flames, but the electric scooters were beyond repair.

Ola Electric Remains Silent
Ola Electric has yet to release a public statement regarding the incident. However, this is not the first time the company has faced issues related to customer service and product quality. In Indore, another Ola Electric showroom was recently damaged in a fire, which some reports attribute to an electrical short circuit.
Growing Concerns Over Electric Vehicle Safety
While the exact cause of the Kalaburagi incident is still under investigation, it raises concerns about the safety and reliability of electric vehicles, especially in India where the market is rapidly expanding. As more consumers adopt electric vehicles, it is crucial for manufacturers like Ola Electric to prioritize customer satisfaction and ensure the quality of their products.
The Road Ahead for Ola Electric
The Kalaburagi incident is a setback for Ola Electric, which has been working hard to establish itself as a leader in the Indian electric vehicle market. To regain public trust and confidence, the company must address the underlying issues that led to this incident and take proactive steps to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
