In a significant development for the Indian commercial vehicle industry, Ashok Leyland, a leading Hinduja Group company, announced securing the single largest order for fully built buses from the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC). The order encompasses a staggering 2,104 Viking passenger buses, valued at approximately Rs 981.45 Crore. The execution of this order will take place between August 2024 and August 2025. These state-of-the-art Viking buses will be fully compliant with the latest Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) and boast robust AIS 153 certified bodies.
Specifically designed to meet MSRTC’s requirements, the Viking buses will be powered by the proven iGEN6 BS VI OBD II technology, featuring a powerful 197 HP H-Series Engine and Rear Air Suspension for a smoother ride. These advanced features ensure exceptional fuel efficiency, reduced operating costs, and a lower total cost of ownership for MSRTC.
