Apple, Samsung, Google users unlock, share Hyundais via Digital Key 2

Hyundai
Hyundai owners can use smartphones as keys, sharing with iPhone, Samsung, and Google Pixel users for enhanced accessibility.
The Hyundai Group is taking its commitment to smartphone integration to the next level with Digital Key 2. In the past, some Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis owners could use their smartphones to unlock their vehicles, but the functionality was limited. Now, the group has expanded its capabilities, allowing not only Apple iPhone and Samsung Galaxy users but also Google Pixel users to access and share digital keys across platforms. This innovative approach aims to provide increased convenience and connectivity for all users, regardless of their smartphone brand preferences.
Enhanced Cross-Platform Compatibility
One of the most significant improvements brought by Digital Key 2 is its cross-platform compatibility. Previously, the system was limited to certain smartphone brands, but now, Galaxy users can seamlessly share their digital keys with iPhone users, and vice versa. This interoperability ensures that the Hyundai Group's vehicles are more accessible and user-friendly than ever before. Gone are the days of exclusive compatibility – Hyundai Group is bridging the gap between different smartphone ecosystems.
Effortless Access and Security
With Digital Key 2, the Hyundai Group has incorporated features that offer a seamless experience for users. No longer will owners need to bring their smartphone close to the car door to lock or unlock it. Similar to a traditional key, the vehicle will automatically respond as the owner approaches. This not only adds a touch of sophistication but also enhances security and convenience.

Managing Digital Key 2
The Hyundai Group has made managing Digital Key 2 a breeze. Owners can now control their digital keys through the manufacturer's app, which simplifies the process of granting access to others. This means that you can share your vehicle with family, friends, or anyone you trust, all through the app on your smartphone. This central hub for vehicle management offers a comprehensive, user-friendly experience.
Collaboration and Future Expansion
Hyung Ki Ahn, Senior Vice President and Head of Hyundai Motor Group's Electronics Development Center, expressed the company's commitment to customer satisfaction and continuous improvement. "We were the first in the automotive industry to offer Apple and Samsung's contactless Digital Key 2 feature when we launched it on the Genesis GV60," he said. "Through active collaboration with our partners in the smartphone industry, we will continue to enhance customer experience and security around car connectivity." This commitment to collaboration and innovation bodes well for the future of Hyundai Group's vehicle connectivity.
Current Availability and Future Plans
Digital Key 2 is already available for owners of select Hyundai Group vehicles, including the Hyundai Grandeur, Genesis GV60, G90, and the Kia EV9. Going forward, the group plans to expand this technology to more of its vehicles, ensuring that a wider range of customers can benefit from the enhanced features and functionality. Additionally, the group aims to make these enhancements available to older vehicles through over-the-air updates, making the technology accessible to existing owners. It's important to note that to use Digital Key 2, both the vehicle and the smartphone may need to be updated to the latest software versions to ensure compatibility.
