Volkswagen is ramping up its electric vehicle (EV) offerings, teasing its first entry-level EV, a battery-powered successor to the discontinued VW Up hatchback. This is just the beginning, as the automaker plans to launch nine new EV models by 2027.
The teaser image reveals a futuristic design with distinctive lighting. The headlamps feature a unique rectangular signature framed by bracket-shaped LED elements, and the car sports an illuminated logo, a hallmark of Volkswagen’s new design language. Curvy body panels, likely designed for aerodynamic efficiency, enhance the muscular aesthetic. This new EV is expected to sit below the ID.2all in Volkswagen’s EV lineup.
Built on the MEB platform, the entry-level EV is anticipated to use a single-motor setup and a smaller battery pack to manage costs. This powertrain is likely to be shared with entry-level EVs from Skoda. The target price is around €20,000 (approximately ₹18 lakh).

While Volkswagen is focused on launching other EVs in India, using a modified CMP architecture tailored for the Indian market, no official word has been given regarding the launch of this entry-level EV in India.
