Pune-based startup, Vayve Mobility, is set to unveil an enhanced version of its solar-powered electric car, Eva, at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi this January. Following its initial introduction at the Auto Expo 2023, Eva, touted as India’s first solar-powered electric vehicle, is poised to make a significant return.
Designed to tackle common urban commuting hurdles, Eva aims to address limited parking spaces, lengthy refueling/charging times, and escalating fuel costs. The company has shared key details about the upgraded model, highlighting its impressive range and charging capabilities.
Vayve Mobility claims Eva can achieve a remarkable range of up to 250 kilometers on a single charge. Furthermore, the integrated rooftop solar panels contribute significantly, providing an estimated 3,000 kilometers of solar-powered driving annually. Notably, the company emphasizes the car’s high-voltage powertrain technology, enabling ultra-fast charging that adds 50 kilometers of range in a mere five minutes.
Performance-wise, Eva boasts impressive acceleration, reaching 0 to 40 kilometers per hour in just five seconds while achieving a top speed of 70 kilometers per hour. A key advantage lies in its significantly lower operational costs compared to petrol vehicles. While petrol cars typically incur around Rs 5 per kilometer in running costs, Eva’s operating expenses are estimated at a mere Rs 0.5 per kilometer.
In terms of features, Eva is equipped with modern amenities such as smartphone integration, comprehensive vehicle diagnostics, remote monitoring capabilities, and the convenience of over-the-air (OTA) updates for enhanced functionality.
