TVS has two fully electric models listed on its official website, the iQube and the X. However, the iQube is the only one seen on the roads so far. The TVS X, launched in August 2023, has yet to be delivered to any customers. However, TVS has confirmed that deliveries of this sporty electric scooter will begin soon.
In an informal discussion with a TVS representative at MotoSoul 2024, it was revealed that dispatches of the TVS X will start in the coming days. Deliveries will take place in phases, with Bengaluru residents receiving priority. The scooter’s pricing will remain the same for now.
The TVS X was introduced in a single, fully loaded variant priced at Rs 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, it was the most expensive electric scooter in India. However, since then, BMW Motorrad has introduced two premium electric scooters, the CE 04 and CE 02, in the country. The CE 02, which is locally assembled, is thought to share several components with the TVS X.
While the exact number of bookings for the TVS X was not disclosed, the spokesperson stated that existing bookings would be prioritized and fulfilled within the next two months. After Bengaluru, deliveries will expand to cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Coimbatore.
Additionally, the first 2,000 units of the TVS X will feature a special “First Edition” badge. These early buyers will also receive a free smartwatch and a ‘Curated Concierge’ package, valued at Rs 18,000. The design of the TVS X draws inspiration from the TVS Creon concept showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo.
TVS X: Design and Features
The TVS X features a bold and dynamic design, embodying the essence of a Maxi-style scooter. It has an aggressive front with a faired body and sharp, sculptured lines. A standout design feature is the vertically mounted headlight, integrated into the front apron.
The scooter also boasts a large side panel that contributes to its rugged, yet stylish appearance. Subtle blue accents highlight its electric nature. Other key features include split seats, a rear tire hugger, and 12-inch blacked-out alloy wheels, which enhance its sporty and premium look.
Performance and Specifications
The TVS X is powered by a 4.44 kWh battery paired with an electric motor producing a peak power output of 15 PS (11 kW) and 40 Nm of torque. This allows the scooter to reach a top speed of 105 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 40 km/h in just 2.6 seconds. Though the official range has not been disclosed, it is estimated to cover approximately 130 km on a full charge.
For charging, the TVS X offers a 3 kWh fast charger that can charge the battery from 0 to 50 percent in just one hour. Alternatively, the standard 950W portable charger takes 3 hours and 40 minutes to charge the battery from 0 to 80 percent. The cost of the portable charger is Rs 16,275 (inclusive of GST).
