Subaru Sport Mobility: A Glimpse of BRZ's Electric Future Potential

Subaru
At the Japan Mobility Show, Subaru unveiled two concepts: an electric coupe and a passenger-carrying drone, showcasing their innovative designs.
Despite modest sales figures for the Subaru BRZ, the automaker remains committed to exploring the future of Subaru Sport. This commitment was on full display at the Japan Mobility Show, where Subaru unveiled two intriguing concepts, the Sport Mobility and Air Mobility. While the company was relatively tight-lipped about specific details, the concepts offer a glimpse into Subaru's vision of innovative and electric mobility.

Sport Mobility Concept:
The Sport Mobility concept stands out with its unique design, blending soft curves with sharp, squared-off accents. Subaru's description of the vehicle was somewhat scant, but its front end makes a statement with a distinctive grille featuring a prominent intake, vertical air curtains, and slender headlights. Though the front might leave room for improvement, the greenhouse section showcases a more refined, sleek appearance with blacked-out pillars. The car boasts streamlined bodywork, distinctive fenders, aerodynamically optimized wheels, and what appears to be a Lamborghini-inspired carbon fiber composite. The rear, in comparison, presents a simpler design but still features slender taillights and fin-like accents.

Specifications remain undisclosed, but Subaru emphasizes a driver-centric philosophy, with the "driver at the center, controlling all four wheels at will." This concept offers a low seating position and excellent visibility for an enjoyable and confident driving experience. From the images available, it seems to maintain a similar footprint to the BRZ.

Air Mobility Concept:
In addition to the Sport Mobility concept, Subaru introduced the Air Mobility concept, a novel approach to air travel. This concept essentially represents a drone with a passenger compartment, featuring six enclosed blades and a car-like greenhouse, complete with automotive-style lighting units.
While Subaru offered limited details, they noted the significance of advancing electrification and automation technologies in aviation. There is a growing expectation for new air mobility solutions that could revolutionize the way people travel through the skies. Subaru is actively collaborating between their aerospace and automotive divisions, working on flight demonstrations and exploring the exciting prospects of air mobility.

These two concepts presented by Subaru at the Japan Mobility Show demonstrate the company's forward-looking commitment to pushing the boundaries of electric and innovative mobility, offering potential insights into the future of Subaru Sport and air travel.
