Simple Energy, an electric vehicle company based in Bengaluru, has released a refreshed version of its One electric scooter. The updated model, called the One Gen 1.5, maintains the original price of Rs 1.66 lakh (ex-showroom) while offering several improvements, most notably a boost in range.
Visually, the One Gen 1.5 is nearly identical to its predecessor. However, the internal upgrades are significant. The scooter now benefits from software enhancements, including tracking history and vehicle diagnostics, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), rapid braking, up to 7% regenerative braking, and a convenient USB charging port.
The most impressive upgrade is the extended range. The One Gen 1.5 boasts a fixed 3.7 kWh battery coupled with a portable 1.3 kWh battery, resulting in a claimed Indian Driving Cycle (IDC) range of up to 248 km on a single charge. This surpasses the previous model’s 212 km and currently positions it as the electric scooter with the longest range available in the market.
Performance-wise, the One Gen 1.5 offers four riding modes: Eco, Ride, Dash, and Sonic. It can reach a top speed of 105 kmph and accelerate from 0 to 40 kmph in a quick 2.7 seconds. Further enhancements include integration with the Simple One Connect app, park assist, over-the-air (OTA) updates, a “find my vehicle” feature, and guide-me-home lights.
Looking ahead, Simple Energy has ambitious expansion plans. The company aims to establish 150 new retail stores and 200 service centers across India by the end of the 2026 financial year.
