Ola Roadster Pro: The Future of Electric Motorcycling in India

Ola Roadster Pro

On Independence Day, Ola Electric took the Indian automotive scene by storm with the launch of its Roadster line of electric motorcycles. Among the three trims introduced, the Roadster Pro has particularly captured the spotlight for several reasons. Here, we delve into five key aspects of the Ola Roadster Pro, which appears highly promising on paper. But will it live up to the hype? Only time and a test ride will tell.

Design:

The design of the Ola Roadster Pro draws significant inspiration from the Roadster concept unveiled a year ago. Staying true to its futuristic vision, the motorcycle boasts a minimalist design with razor-sharp body panels. The front end features a sleek headlamp cluster paired with a horizontal LED Daytime Running Light strip that adds to its modern appeal. The bike’s stance is further accentuated by tank extensions, split seats, alloy wheels, and a compact rear end. This combination of elements not only makes the Roadster Pro visually striking but also gives it a distinctive presence on the road.

Battery & Electric Motor:

Ola Electric has confirmed that the Roadster Pro will be available with two battery options: 8 kWh and 16 kWh. The motorcycle is powered by a robust 52 kW electric motor, enabling the larger battery variant to accelerate from 0 to 60 kmph in a lightning-fast 1.9 seconds. This impressive motor is also capable of producing 105 Nm of torque, making the Roadster Pro a potent performer in the electric motorcycle segment. The battery and motor combination promises exhilarating performance, particularly in urban environments where quick acceleration is key.

Range & Top Speed:

One of the most talked-about aspects of the Ola Roadster Pro is its range and top speed. The bike comes with a claimed top speed of 194 kmph, making it one of the fastest electric motorcycles available today. Even more impressive is its range; the Roadster Pro is said to cover up to 579 km on a single charge. This makes it not only the fastest but also the electric motorcycle with the longest range in the market. In India, the Roadster Pro stands in a league of its own in terms of price and range, with its closest competitor being the Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2.

Features:

As expected from an Ola electric vehicle, the Roadster Pro is loaded with features. It comes equipped with a new 10-inch touchscreen TFT display that offers Bluetooth connectivity, AI technology, and turn-by-turn navigation. The bike runs on the latest MoveOS software and is future-proofed with provisions for assistive technologies like ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), traction control, and wheelie control. The Roadster Pro also offers four ride modes: Eco, Normal, Sport, and Hyper, along with two custom modes, allowing riders to tailor the bike’s performance to their preferences.

Price & Availability:

The Ola Roadster Pro is built on a steel frame and features upside-down front forks and a monoshock rear suspension. Braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends, with ABS as standard. Reservations for the 8 kW variant of the Roadster Pro are now open, with customer deliveries expected to commence in Q4 FY26. The pricing is set at Rs. 2 lakh for the model with the smaller 8 kWh battery pack, while the larger 16 kWh variant is priced at Rs. 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom).

In conclusion, the Ola Roadster Pro is a promising addition to the electric motorcycle market, with its futuristic design, powerful performance, and long-range capabilities. Whether it will meet the high expectations set by its specifications is something we will only know after putting it through its paces on the road.
