In a significant development, Mahindra, the renowned Indian automaker, unveiled its Thar.e electric SUV earlier this year in August. Now, the company has taken a pivotal step by patenting the design of this innovative electric vehicle. The design patent was officially filed on August 10, 2023, marking a new chapter in Mahindra's commitment to sustainable and electrifying mobility.
INGLO Platform Foundation
The Thar.e concept EV serves as a testament to Mahindra's dedication to electric mobility. It is built on the all-new INGLO platform, a versatile foundation that forms the basis for this forward-looking electric SUV. The INGLO platform ensures a sturdy and reliable structure, perfect for a vehicle designed to tackle both urban streets and off-road terrains.
Distinctive Exterior Aesthetics
One cannot help but be captivated by the Thar.e's distinctive exterior design. The vehicle's front fascia is characterized by a striking rectangular layout, framed by square LED headlamp units that lend it an imposing presence. Complementing this bold look is a rugged front bumper, enhancing the SUV's off-road capabilities. The rear end of the Thar.e showcases a slab-sided design featuring square LED tail lights, a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, and flared wheel arches, cementing its rugged and adventurous identity.
Modern and Minimalistic Interior
Inside the Thar.e, the design ethos continues with a modern and minimalist interior. The dashboard's simplicity is its strength, offering functionality and aesthetics in equal measure. A central touchscreen takes center stage, providing a hub for controlling various vehicle features and infotainment. The digital instrument cluster adds a tech-savvy touch, ensuring the driver is always well-informed. The 3-spoke steering wheel, adorned with haptic switches and the 'Thar.e' logo at its center, completes the sophisticated yet straightforward interior layout.
Technical Details Await
While the visual aspects of the Thar.e have been unveiled, Mahindra has chosen to keep the technical details under wraps for now. However, a few key specifications have emerged, providing a glimpse of what to expect. The Thar.e is projected to offer an impressive ground clearance ranging between 250-300 mm, making it well-suited for off-road adventures. The vehicle's maneuverability is underscored by short overhangs measuring 640-680 mm in the front and 680-740 mm at the rear. The wheelbase is expected to fall within the range of 2,775 mm to 2,975 mm, contributing to its stable and agile handling.
