Mahindra BE 6e: A Glimpse into the Future of Mobility

Mahindra & Mahindra has officially unveiled the BE 6e in India, along with the XEV 9e, at the ‘Unlimit India’ event in Chennai. Priced from Rs. 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom), the BE 6e is built on Mahindra’s advanced INGLO platform, marking a significant step in the company’s transition to electric vehicles (EVs).

Formerly known as the BE 05, the BE 6e is a fully electric five-seater coupe SUV that highlights Mahindra’s innovative approach to design and technology. The SUV debuts a refreshed BE logo and features eye-catching C-shaped LED DRLs around the headlamps, along with a striking glass roof that enhances its aesthetics.

Inside, the BE 6e’s cabin is modern and luxurious, featuring a driver-focused layout. The twin-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo, dual-screen displays, and premium materials create a refined environment. The interior also includes wireless charging, seven airbags, a head-up display (HUD), a 360-degree camera, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Type-C charging ports, and a 16-speaker audio system with ambient lighting to elevate the user experience.

For added convenience, the BE 6e offers an electronic parking brake with an auto-hold function, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and multiple drive modes. Safety is enhanced by a Level 2+ Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite, providing a range of driver aids. The SUV is available with two battery options: a 59 kWh pack and a larger 79 kWh pack, both supporting fast charging up to 175 kW. This allows the battery to charge from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes.

The BE 6e’s robust design includes a ground clearance of 207 mm and a battery clearance of 218 mm, ensuring it can handle diverse terrains. Measuring 4,371 mm in length, it offers ample storage with a 455-litre boot and an additional 45-litre frunk. These dimensions surpass many luxury SUVs in India.

Mahindra has incorporated brake-by-wire technology in the BE 6e, allowing the SUV to stop from 100 km/h within 40 meters. This system also improves brake energy recuperation by 18%, extending the driving range. The 79 kWh battery offers an ARAI-certified range of 682 km, with over 500 km of real-world range, even with air conditioning, making it ideal for city commuters.

However, the price does not include the charger and installation costs, which buyers must purchase separately. Deliveries are expected between February and March 2025. The BE 6e’s cockpit design draws inspiration from fighter jets, featuring thruster-like controls for a futuristic feel.

In addition to its sleek design, the BE 6e integrates connected car technology and an AI-powered interface, along with a panoramic sunroof. A notable feature is its advanced wiring system, which spans three kilometers and includes over 2,000 circuits and 36 ECUs, highlighting Mahindra’s commitment to engineering excellence.
