Kia PV5 Electric Van: Passenger and Cargo Versions Coming

Kia PV5

Kia’s PV5 electric van, initially showcased as a concept at CES over a year ago, has now been revealed in its production form ahead of its official global debut on February 27th. Remarkably, the production model closely resembles the original concept, a common theme with recent Kia releases.

Kia will offer both passenger and cargo versions of the PV5, sharing a similar design language but with distinct features. Both models are characterized by a striking front fascia, highlighted by sharp LED daytime running lights that flow down from the base of the windshield. In place of a traditional grille, a charging flap sits prominently at the center of the van’s nose, flanked by the main headlamps.

Like the Hyundai Staria, both the passenger and cargo variants of the PV5 feature expansive windows, promising a bright and spacious cabin. Practicality is addressed with the addition of chunky door handles, a feature absent in the concept version. The cargo model distinguishes itself with the absence of rear side windows and the inclusion of twin side-opening tailgate doors for convenient loading and unloading.

While the front of the PV5 is decidedly modern, the rear design is more conventional, featuring vertical LED taillights and large doors.

Kia has announced that the PV5 will be available in multiple configurations, with further specialized versions beyond the passenger and cargo models currently in development. Customization will be a key focus, with various conversion options available to tailor the PV5 to individual customer needs.

Details about the PV5’s interior and all-electric powertrain are still forthcoming. It’s anticipated that the van will offer both single and dual-motor options, along with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) capabilities. All versions will be built on Kia’s Electric Complete Chassis Platform Module (e-CCPM) platform.
