Kia India is set to electrify the Indian SUV market with the launch of its flagship electric SUV, the EV9, on October 3rd, 2024. This highly anticipated three-row electric SUV will be imported as a Completely Built Up (CBU) unit and is expected to redefine the luxury electric vehicle segment in the country.
Built on Kia’s cutting-edge E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform), the EV9 promises to deliver exceptional performance, range, and advanced technology. While specific details about the India-spec model are still under wraps, the global variant offers a glimpse into what Indian consumers can expect.
Powertrain and Range
Internationally, the EV9 is available with three powertrain options: a single-motor Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) configuration with a 76.1kWh battery pack, a larger 99.8kWh battery pack paired with a single motor, and a dual-motor All-Wheel Drive (AWD) setup. The RWD variant with the smaller battery offers a driving range of 358 km, while the larger battery pack extends the range to 541 km. The AWD version provides a balance of performance and efficiency with an estimated range of 450 km.
Charging Capabilities
The EV9 supports both fixed and portable charging options, ensuring convenience for owners. With fast charging capabilities, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes, making long journeys hassle-free. Additionally, the SUV features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing it to power external devices.
Luxurious Interior and Advanced Features
The EV9’s spacious cabin is designed to prioritize comfort and versatility. The 7-seater SUV boasts flexible seating arrangements with 60:40 split second-row seats that can be remotely folded and even swivelled. The third row offers a 50:50 split configuration with remote folding capabilities.
To enhance the driving experience, Kia has packed the EV9 with a range of advanced features, including a 12.3-inch dual screen setup, wireless connectivity, a premium Meridian sound system, and a host of driver assistance technologies. The SUV also prioritizes passenger comfort with three-zone climate control, heated and ventilated front and second-row seats, and ample USB charging ports.
