Suzuki Motor Corporation has outlined an ambitious strategy to regain its dominant position in the Indian market, aiming to recapture the 50 percent market share it once held. This ambitious goal will be achieved through a multi-pronged approach, encompassing the expansion of its electric vehicle (EV) and hybrid offerings, a renewed focus on the SUV segment, and a revitalization of its compact car portfolio.

At the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, Suzuki unveiled the e-Vitara, a key pillar of its EV strategy, alongside the e-Access electric scooter. Toshihiro Suzuki, Representative Director and President of Suzuki Motor Corporation, emphasized the crucial role of SUVs in achieving this ambitious target, stating, “Our priority is to regain the 50 percent market share. We are committed to bringing in new products to excite the market, actively increasing our portfolio with special emphasis on SUVs.”

A Multi-Fuel Future

By 2030, Suzuki envisions a diverse product portfolio encompassing gasoline, CNG, electric, and hybrid vehicles, catering to the evolving needs of the Indian market. While acknowledging the shift towards SUVs, Suzuki also recognizes the enduring importance of the small car segment, considering it a foundational pillar of its business.

Production & Export Strategy

With a target of manufacturing 4 million units annually, Suzuki’s upcoming plant in Kharkhoda, Haryana, is poised to play a pivotal role, contributing an additional 1 million units to its production capacity. India’s robust manufacturing expertise and economies of scale will be leveraged to enhance exports, with the goal of establishing India as a global hub for EV exports.

At the Expo, Suzuki showcased its commitment to innovation with the unveiling of the e-Vitara, available in two battery pack options. This ground-up electric vehicle is slated for global export, including key markets like Japan and Europe. Additionally, Suzuki showcased a range of concept vehicles, including the Fronx Turbo Concept, Grand Vitara Adventure Concept, Jimny Conqueror Concept, Swift Champion Concept, and Brezza Powerplay Concept, offering a glimpse into the future of its product portfolio.
