Hyundai has released the first teaser image of its upcoming flagship electric SUV, the Ioniq 9. This highly anticipated vehicle is expected to closely resemble the Kia EV9 in terms of size, interior layout, powertrain options, and feature set.
The teaser image reveals a large, boxy silhouette with prominent vertical taillights and flared wheel arches. This design language is reminiscent of the Concept 7, a concept car unveiled in 2021, suggesting that the production model will retain many of its striking design elements.
The Ioniq 9’s arrival is a logical step for Hyundai, given the success of the Kia EV9. By offering a variety of electric vehicles across different segments, Hyundai aims to cater to a wider range of consumer preferences and boost its overall sales volume.

Initially, the Ioniq 9 is expected to be launched in North America and potentially manufactured there as well. However, Hyundai is considering introducing the model to the Indian market around 2026, positioning it as a showcase of the brand’s latest technology and design. This strategy aligns with Kia’s approach with the EV9, which was also introduced to the Indian market after its global launch.
