Faraday Future, the electric vehicle startup, has released the first teaser image of its upcoming mainstream model, the FX. While the image itself is rather cryptic, offering a glimpse of a camouflaged vehicle on a trailer, it does provide a few clues about the design.
The prototype showcases prominent wheel arches, door-mounted mirrors, and an angular shoulder line. The relatively small wheels and extended greenhouse suggest a focus on practicality and space. The badge on the front fender hints at the brand’s identity.
Faraday Future has confirmed that the first FX prototypes have arrived at its Chinese headquarters and will soon be shipped to Los Angeles. This marks the beginning of the development and testing phase. The company aims to position itself as a major player in the electric vehicle market, targeting a similar scale to Toyota.
The automaker has previously announced plans for two models within the FX lineup: the FX 5 and FX 6. The FX 5 is envisioned as a sporty electric vehicle priced between $20,000 and $30,000, while the FX 6 is a larger family vehicle targeting the $30,000 to $50,000 price range.
Both models are expected to offer both battery-electric and range-extended powertrain options. However, specific details about the powertrains remain undisclosed. Faraday Future aims to commence production of these vehicles by the end of 2025, subject to securing the necessary funding.
While the company’s ambitious plans are exciting, it’s important to note the challenges it faces. Faraday Future has a history of financial struggles and operational hurdles. The company’s forward-looking statement highlights these risks, including limited operating history, significant barriers to growth, and ongoing losses.
