The zero-emission SUV segment in India is poised for significant growth in the coming months, with leading automakers introducing a range of new electric vehicles. Brands like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata, and Mahindra are all gearing up to launch their electric SUV offerings, catering to the increasing demand for sustainable and eco-friendly transportation.
Here’s a glimpse into the upcoming electric SUVs from these prominent brands:
1. Mahindra XUV 3XO EV:
Set to be positioned below the XUV 400, the XUV 3XO EV is expected to share many components with its larger sibling, including the battery pack. It is likely to offer a range of around 400 km on a full charge.
2. Maruti Suzuki eVX:
This electric SUV, slated for launch in early 2025, is expected to feature a 60 kWh battery pack, providing a range of over 550 km. It will be based on a variant of Toyota’s 27 PL platform, sharing components and interior features with Toyota’s upcoming electric midsize SUV.
3. Hyundai Creta EV:
The Hyundai Creta EV, frequently spotted during testing, is also expected to hit the market by early 2025. It will likely utilize the same motor as the discontinued base-spec Kona Electric and offer a range of around 500 km.
4. Mahindra XUV.e & BE Series:
Mahindra has ambitious plans to expand its electric vehicle lineup with the XUV.e8 and the BE series. The XUV.e8, expected to arrive in the first half of 2025, will closely resemble its concept and share components with the XUV 700 ICE. Additionally, a coupe version of the XUV.e8 is also in the pipeline.
5. Tata Harrier EV:
Tata Motors showcased the Harrier EV as a near-production concept at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo. This electric SUV is set to launch in the final quarter of this fiscal year and will be available in single and dual electric motor configurations. It is expected to offer a range of around 450 km.
