DS Automobiles Launches Tech-Heavy No8 Electric Fastback

DS No8

DS Automobiles has officially launched its new flagship, the No8. This sleek, tech-focused electric fastback with crossover styling is slated for delivery in the second half of 2025. While ambitious, the No8’s pricing, while premium, isn’t the highest in the DS lineup.

In France, the DS No8 starts at €59,200 (approximately $61,300 USD) for the base Pallas FWD model. The top-tier Etoile AWD Long Range, the only dual-motor variant, reaches €74,600 (around $77,300 USD). This flagship model boasts 370 hp and a larger 97.2 kWh battery, providing an impressive WLTP range of 686 km (426 miles).

DS has clearly positioned the No8 against established premium brands like Audi and BMW. However, its starting price exceeds that of the Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron and the BMW i4 Gran Coupe. The fully-loaded No8 competes with larger, more established luxury EVs such as the Audi A6 Sportback e-tron, Mercedes-Benz EQE Sedan, and BMW i5.

Interestingly, the No8 Etoile AWD Long Range, even in its most expensive configuration, undercuts other models in the DS lineup. It’s less expensive than the DS7 Performance PHEV SUV and the now discontinued DS9 Opera E-Tense 4×4 PHEV sedan.

To explore the No8’s maximum price, we configured a top-spec Etoile model. We selected Crystal Pearl paint, a black roof, and 21-inch Cassiopeia wheels. The illuminated grille and DS Pixel Vision headlights are standard on the Etoile trim. Inside, we chose Chestnut Brown Nappa Leather, a panoramic roof, and both the Absolute Comfort and Absolute Tech packs, which include features like DS Night Vision. We also added the 22kW three-phase charger and a removable tow bar.

The total price for this fully-optioned DS No8 reached €85,990 (approximately $89,100 USD). While a significant sum, it’s still less than the now unavailable DS9 Opera.

DS aims to move “beyond premium” and compete in the highest luxury segment. This likely means we can expect even more expensive DS models in the future, perhaps including special editions of the No8.
